Scripture Summary Matthew 18:20

Being a follower of Christ in isolation is a contradiction. Together, we pray to the Father in Jesus' Name. Together, we worship the Father in Jesus' Name. And, together in Jesus' Name, we express our love for the Father through our love for one another. "Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there am I in their midst" (Mt.18:20). What a vision! What a tremendous vision of hope we have been given to share and proclaim! Visions of God come to us who call ourselves "Christian," not in a collection of words, no matter how artfully put together, but in a collection of people we call the Brotherhood of Christ.

The son resolved the problems with great ease. "Everything," said the boy, "can be answered mathematically." "Well then, said the Father, "how about this? If you have one dollar and I have one dollar, and we exchange, how much money do we each have?" "One dollar," said the son. "Correct!" said the father, "But using that same principle, if you have one idea and I have one idea and we exchange, do we not each have two ideas?"

The story is told of a pig and a chicken who were walking past a Church one Sunday morning. Said the chicken to the pig, "You know, over the years those people in there have been pretty nice to us. I think we ought to do something nice for them." "Good idea," said the pig, "What do you have in mind?" "I think we ought to have a big banquet," said the chicken. "I'm all for that," said the pig, "but what shall we serve them to eat?" "Bacon and eggs, said the chicken. "Not on your life!" said the pig. "For you that's just a contribution. For me, it's a total commitment."

We need each other's dedication to total commitment, nothing less. The world needs this Community's dedication [...]
